Please give a brief background of Parts Sales globally and Parts Sales in Botswana, indicating establishment, nature and scope of the business and global presence? 

Parts Sales Botswana and Forklift Sales Botswana are trading names for TURBO (Pty) Ltd, which was first registered in 1987 and has been trading in Botswana for close to 25 years.
We started off by selling replacement spare parts for a wide variety of heavy duty plant and equipment in the earthmoving and trucking industry. These parts are sourced from both local suppliers in South Africa and also imported from overseas.
We have fully equipped workshops in Gaborone and Francistown enabling us to conduct all of our own component repairs in-house.

With a staff compliment of 60, including 14 trained diesel and electrical mechanics we are able to constantly meet the needs of our clients and keep the company name at the top of its market in terms of service delivery. Due to the nature of our business, a large portion of the service work required is conducted in the field and as such we currently have I0 service vehicles to conduct the field service work, which helps us to meet our clients? needs and deliver the service that we have become known for.

What products and services does Parts Sales offer in the Botswana market? 

In the past 5 years we have been appointed the official dealer/distributor for some of the biggest names in the construction, mining, plant and equipment industry. This includes the full range of DYNAPAC COMPACTION EQUIPMENT, BOBCAT SKID-STEERS AND TELEHANDLERS ,SHANTUI EARTHMOVING EQUIPMENT as well as more recently, SINOTRUK: HOWO HEAVY DUTY TRICKS
We also stock an extensive range of quality Ground Engaging Tools (GET) to fit most types of Earthmoving Machinery, Undercarriage, Engine parts as well as Hydraulic components. All parts supplied are directly interchangeable with the original products


We have seen a lot of interest and sales with our product lines, and believe that that all these products are well-suited to the requirements of the Botswana market, and will go beyond all expectations.

How is Parts Sales' product offering convenient/ relevant/ appropriate for a customer in the prevailing recession? 

With the decrease in expenditure by the government it is evident that the recession is still impacting heavily on the construction industry in Botswana. But in this climate, we feel that Parts Sales has stepped forward as a market leader; where there is currently a need for affordable, value-for-money machinery that can get the job done, while at the same time decreasing the customers costs in keeping them going. We believe that those companies who choose our products will be able to do the same job, with the same success - for a fraction of the price, ultimately making themselves a lot more competitive.

What level of support does Parts Sales offer local customers, i.e. maintenance, service, finance, insurance, warranty etc. 



The SHANTUI machines are equipped with Cummins engines, which are covered under warranty by Cummins here in Botswana. These machines are ideal for the African Market, as they have simple mechanics which make them easy to maintain and service on site, rather than having to bring them into the workshop or take a laptop out into the field to fix them? which can happen with the fancy electronics you get on most machines nowadays.
All of our products come with a minimum 12 month or 1500 hour warranty.Additional warranty periods can be negotiate d to suit various demands. As mentioned previously we have 14 trained diesel and electrical mechanics which are available to our customers for maintenance and servicing no matter where in Botswana they are located.

What is Parts Sales competitive edge or value offering for local clients above and beyond its competitors in the market?

Value for money - We know that we can beat any of our competitors when it comes down to price. But what must also be considered is the quality of the product that you get for this price.
In 2010, SHANTUI overtook KOMATSU to become the Second largest bulldozer manufacturer worldwide. And this year, SHANTUI has passed CATERPILLAR to become the largest dozer manufacturer worldwide!


The SINOTRUK Brand is the largest Heavy-Duty truck manufacturer in China, with MAN recently purchasing 25% of the company. On average they currently manufacture around 17,000 Heavy-Duty Trucks a month. BOBCAT and DYNAPAC are world renowned American and European brands of the highest quality.
SHANTUI SOUTHERN AFRICA, which is based in Johannesburg, has a very large parts facility and workshop. Earlier this year they purchased over 100 machines for the Southern African market ? up until now, they have had to order a large number of additional machines as the brand has continued to take the Southern Africa by storm. This in turn helps us in Botswana in obtaining various parts, if for some reason we do not have in stock.

Please briefly describe the organisation's quality and customer care ethos? 

We pride ourselves in responding as promptly as possible to any customer requirement. This is particularly important on any after sales requirements.

What are Parts Sales plans for its Botswana business in terms of products and service expansion, geographical distribution etc?

Currently we are very happy with the products and service we have available to our customers. But, as with anything there is still room for improvement and our current premises is getting increasingly small for our requirements. We have recently purchased a piece of land in Gaborone, which is roughly 3 times the size of our current location in Broadhurst.This is an exciting period for all of us at Parts Sales, as well as Forklift Sales Botswana, and the new premises which will hopefully be up and running toward the end of next year, will allow us to grow on our reputation as a customer care driven company and continue to show our commitment to our loyal customers, while enhancing our competitive edge. As mentioned we also have a branch in Francistown which caters for all our customers in the North of the country.

Can you please elaborate on the relationship between Parts Sales and mines in Botswana:

We have a number of machines currently working on the various mines around the country, but I would have to say that our biggest involvement with the mines will have to be the sale of replacement Spare Parts and Ground Engaging Tools (GET) to the contractors working on these mines. Spare Parts and GET has been the core of our business since we started, and although the large increase in machine sales over the last few years has no doubt helped the company get to where it is now. The sale of replacement spare parts and GET remains a large contributor to the current growth of the company, and will continue to do so.
